“Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.”
Why are there so many false prophets that are gone out from this world, what do they gain by spreading false gospels, false doctrines and false salvation. Let’s go to Jude 1
Jude 1:11-13 King James Version
11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
In Jude 1:11 it says “they have gone in the way of Cain”, let’s go to Genesis 4
Genesis 4:3-6 King James Version
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
Why did Cain’s countenance fell? It is because he is doing his own way of offering to God which are fruits and vegetables that came from the ground which God had cursed in Genesis 3:17. The proper way to offer to God is what Abel did is by offering his firstlings of his flock.
Maybe at first some of these false prophets had good intentions to serve the Lord, but God sees these false prophets who are doing their own way and not God’s way as foolish and He is against them.
Ezekiel 13:2-8 King James Version
2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;
3 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
4 O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.
5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.
6 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
7 Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?
8 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.
And if these false prophets are not saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, then they’ll be cast off to the lake of fire in the Great White Throne of Judgement
Matthew 7:22-24 King James Version
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Continuing in Jude 1:11, “…and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.” In this passage, the primary motivation for false prophet is greed or the love of money.
1 Timothy 6:10 King James Version
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
Mark 8:36 King James Version
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
What does the Bible says about those who oppress the poor to enrich themselves.
Proverbs 14:31 King James Version
"He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor."
Proverbs 22:16 King James Version
"He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want."

You will know these false prophets by their fruits
Matthew 7:15-18 King James Version
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
And lastly in Jude 1:13, “Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.” These false prophets’ just reward is eternal damnation.
So why are people so easily deceive by false prophets?
1 Timothy 4:1 King James Version
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”
2 Timothy 3:13-14 King James Version
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
We are living in a perilous times, and in this age of apostasy, if you’re not saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and not studying and rightly dividing His word, the King James Bible then you’ll be easily deceived by false prophets. What’s worse is that people today would rather hear soothing lies that affirm their own beliefs that are not written in the Bible rather than the inconvenient truth that they are lost sinners and in need of a Saviour, the LORD Jesus Christ.
